Justus Brinckmann acquired a lot of chests and cupboards for the MKG. He saw the end of traditional peasant culture coming. As soon as a farmhouse was vacated in the Vierlanden, the director drove up in a horse-drawn cart. In the case of particularly beautiful furniture, he didn’t wait, but talked the farmers out of it.
